As part of the Channel Four 'Coming Up' series, Zoë is starring alongside Andrew Buchan in author Richard T Kelly's drama "Jennifer".
At first glance, the drama appeared to be about the Oscar Award-winning American actress Jennifer Jones (1919-2009), however as Richard confirms in his blog, the film Jennifer is not a Hollywood true story but an entirely fictional tale, set in present-day London.
He goes on to say:
One doesn’t want to spill too much about the plot; however it’s simple enough to reiterate that for me the titling of Jennifer was a sort of cinephile tip of the hat to William Dieterle’s Portrait of Jennie (1948) and to Jennifer Jones’ luminous performance therein. But really that amounts to nothing more than a little movie-lover’s in-joke – you’d never suppose the connection from watching the film, even if you know the Dieterle picture inside out.
'Coming Up' is the Channel 4 talent scheme where new writers and directors have the opportunity to make an original film with a guaranteed network broadcast - and this 30 minute teleplay written by Richard is to appear as part of it's fourth series (sometime) in 2010.
Richard T Kelly worked as the director of a theatre company and for the TV production department of the British Film Institute. From 1998 to 2001 he was a programme consultant and presenter of on-stage events at the Edinburgh International Film Festival. In 2000 he wrote and presented the Channel 4 documentary THE NAME OF THIS FILM IS DOGME 95. He is a regular contributor on film matters to newspapers, magazines, TV and radio, and has authored three acclaimed ‘oral history’ books on film and filmmakers, all published by Faber: ALAN CLARKE (1998), THE NAME OF THIS BOOK IS DOGME 95 (2000), and the authorised biography SEAN PENN: HIS LIFE AND TIMES (2004). Richard recently edited TEN BAD DATES WITH DE NIRO, published in October 2007. His debut novel, CRUSADERS, a story of crime, politics and religion set in his native Newcastle-upon-Tyne, was published by Faber to excellent reviews, and is currently under option to Ruby Films/Channel 4
[Webmaster's Note: We were surprised - and very pleased - that Mr Kelly noticed our news item about 'Jennifer' and we would like to thank him for taking the time to clarify the Jennifer Connection and to mention us in his blog.] |

All six episodes of series two of Survivors will be available for streaming (or time-limited download) on the BBC iPlayer service. Rather than the standard seven-day access to a single episode (after which a new episode replaces the previous one) the entire series will be ’stacked’ on the iPlayer, with each new episode joining those already available (until a week after the last episode is shown, at which point all six episodes will be withdrawn from the iPlayer).
The service currently indicates that episode one of Survivors series two will be available until 23 February (which would have been a week after episode six had broadcast). With a two-week gap now separating the broadcast of episodes one and two, it is certain that this date will be revised – meaning that episodes will be available until 2 March 2010.
Please note: access to programme content on the iPlayer service is only available in the UK |

RTÉ Entertainment features an interview with Max Beesley:
Actor Max Beesley talks about the return for a second series of BBC One's 'Survivors' in which his character, Tom, suddenly finds himself in charge of the survivors trying to save Greg after he is shot and rescue Anya and Al when they become trapped in a burning hospital. As the series progress Tom increasingly finds himself at odds with Greg over his violent tendencies and his past crimes
The Manchester Evening News has a general article about Survivors and begins:
Survivors: Hope Never Dies
Ian Wylie January 11, 2010
“HOPE never dies,” says the postcard in the reception area of The Midland Hotel. If 99 per cent of the world’s population had been killed by a flu virus, would there be hope for you? Would you help others, or grab a gun? Those questions continue in the second series of hit TV drama Survivors, which returns tomorrow night in the wake of the real life swine flu pandemic. The fictional story so far: Food and water are in short supply, with no electricity, gas, communications, medical care, police or government.
The BBC News website has an interview with Julie Graham (Abby) aboyt the second series, which begins:
Survivors cast survive swine flu
By Tim Masters Entertainment correspondent, BBC News
The post-apocalyptic drama Survivors returns this week, with the cast and crew counting themselves fortunate that 2009's swine flu outbreak didn't wreck the making of the second series.
"Amazingly, we were filming in the Midlands where all the swine flu was happening," says actress Julie Graham, who plays the heroine Abby Grant.
And finally, showbiz and television website Digital Spy features an interview with Zoë as part of their Survivors Interview series
Their interview begins:
Tube Talk's 'Survivors' Week: Zoe Tapper
Monday, January 11 2010, 06:35 GMT By Dan French, US TV Editor
First we gave you Nicholas Gleaves, then we offered up Robyn Addison, and now we present to you... Zoe Tapper!
Tapper's alter-ego Anya was last seen toying with Tom (cue death stares from Sarah), skirting around her somewhat ambiguous sexuality and generally playing nurse to the walking wounded. But what's in store for her in series two? What are you waiting for?
