Desperate Romantics seduces 2.5 million
BBC2 costume drama Desperate Romantics ties in ratings with Channel Five's CSI: Miami in the 9pm hour

BBC2 costume drama Desperate Romantics launched with 2.5 million viewers last night, Tuesday 21 July.
Desperate Romantics, Peter Bowker's drama about the pre-Raphaelite brotherhood, attracted an 11% share in the 9pm hour, according to unofficial overnights.
The BBC2 drama tied in the ratings with Channel Five's CSI: Miami, which also had 2.5 million viewers and an 11% share in the 9pm slot.
Both shows nipped ahead of Channel 4's Big Brother, which drew 2.3 million viewers and a 10% share. A Further 403,000 watched an hour later on Channel 4 +1.

TV ratings: Desperate Romantics jilted by 500,000 viewers on second episode Desperate Romantics
BBC2's costume drama Desperate Romantics dropped 500,000 viewers on its second outing last night, Tuesday 28 July.
Peter Bowker's drama about the pre-Raphaelite brotherhood attracted 2 million and a 9% share in the 9pm hour, down from last week's 2.5 million and an 11% share for the launch episode, according to unofficial overnight figures.
ITV1 won the 9pm slot, coming out on top in the battle of the crime shows, with Car Crime UK gaining 3.8 million and an 18% share across an hour, while BBC1's The Truth About Crime drew 2.8 million and a 13% share in the same slot.
Channel Five's US drama CSI: Miami picked up 2.7 million and a 12% share in the 9pm hour.
Channel 4's Big Brother claimed 2.1 million and a 10% share, with a further 324,000 on Channel 4 +1 an hour later.
BBC1 won the 8pm slot with Holby City attracting 5.1 million and a 23% share across an hour, while ITV1's Send in the Dogs picked up 3.9 million and a 17% share in the same slot.
BBC2's Coast drew 3.2 million and a 14% share in the 8pm hour. Channel 4's Property Snakes and Ladders claimed 2.1 million and a 10% share, with a further 207,000 on Channel 4 +1.
The start of Five's new series Big, Bigger, Biggest pulled in 1 million and a 4% share in the 8pm hour.

BBC1 crime show draws 3.3 million, beating ITV1's Car Crime UK with 2.8 million

BBC1 came out on top in the battle of the 9pm crime shows for the first time in a month last night, Tuesday 11 August.
Crimewatch on the Streets, narrated by Kirsty Young, pulled in 3.3 million viewers and a 16% share over an hour, according to unofficial overnight figures.
It beat the fourth instalment of ITV1's Car Crime UK, which drew 2.8 million viewers and a 13% share. The show, presented by Sir Trevor McDonald, has won the slot for the past three weeks, last week attracting 3.7 million.
Channel Five's CSI: Miami picked up 2.7 million viewers and a 12% share in the 9pm hour, while Channel 4's Big Brother pulled in 2 million and 9%, with a further 542,000 on Channel 4 +1 an hour later.
The fourth instalment of BBC2's drama Desperate Romantics claimed 1.7 million viewers and an 8% share.
BBC1 won the 8pm hour with Holby City attracting 5.2 million viewers and a 24% share, while ITV1's factual series Send in the Dogs picked up 3.5 million and 16%.

Controversial ITV1 show featuring Sarah Ferguson draws 2.5 million viewers against BBC1 crime series with 3.7 million

ITV1's controversial documentary in which Sarah Ferguson visited a Manchester estate attracted 2.5 million viewers on Tuesday, 18 August.
The Duchess on the Estate, in which Ferguson riled locals by portraying the Northern Moor estate in Wythenshawe as having problems with drugs and crime, drew a 12% share in the 9pm hour, according to unofficial overnights.
ITV1's documentary lost out to BBC1's Crimewatch Solved, which picked up 3.7 million viewers and a 17% share, and attracted the same audience as Channel Five's CSI: Miami.
Elsewhere in the 9pm hour, BBC2 costume drama Desperate Romantics concluded with 1.8 million viewers and an 8% share.
Big Brother pulled in 2.1 million viewers and a 10% share. A further 397,000 watched on Channel 4+1 an hour later.
Holby City came out on top in the 8pm hour, with 5.1 million viewers and a 24% share on BBC1.
BBC2's Coast landed second with 3.4 million viewers and a 16% share, while ITV1's Car Crime UK had 3.1 million and 14%.
Over on Channel 4 at the same time, Property Snakes and Ladders drew 1.7 million viewers and an 8% share, with another 196,000 on Channel 4 +1. Five's documentary Big, Bigger, Biggest had 600,000 viewers and a 3% share. Sky Sports 2's live coverage of Arsenal's 2-0 victory over Celtic in the Champions League qualifier first leg attracted 1.049 million viewers over two hours from 7.45pm. Full coverage averaged 807,000 viewers between 7pm and 10pm.
